Terms of Service

Welcome to The Getting Ahead Guidebook (the “Service”), operated by Personal Solutions Northwest, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”), an Oregon limited liability company. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”).

If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who Can Use the Service

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a legally binding contract. By creating an account, you represent that you meet these requirements.

2. Your Account

  • You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.
  • You may not share your account or allow others to use it.
  • You agree to provide accurate information and keep it current.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Free Trial and Subscription

7-day free trial

Every new account includes a 7-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card is required to start the trial.

Subscription plans

At the end of the trial, you may subscribe to one of two plans:

  • Monthly: $8.95 per month, billed every 30 days.
  • Annual: $79.00 per year, billed every 365 days.

Prices are in US dollars and may change with 30 days’ advance notice.

Billing

Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. You authorize us (through Stripe) to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Subscription page inside the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access until that date.

Refund policy

  • We do not prorate refunds for partial billing periods.
  • If you were charged within the last 7 days and have not actively used the paid features, email support@thegettingaheadguidebook.com within 14 days of the charge and we’ll review your request in good faith.
  • We reserve the right to issue refunds at our discretion for extraordinary circumstances.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to access another user’s account or data.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or replicate the Service.
  • Upload content that is illegal, infringing, or malicious.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

5. Your Data, Your Control

Everything you enter into the Service — transactions, categories, notes, attachments — belongs to you.

  • You may export your data at any time (Settings → Export).
  • You may delete your account at any time (see our Account Deletion page).
  • We will never sell your data or use it for advertising.

Our handling of your data is further described in our Privacy Policy.

6. The Service Is Provided “As Is”

We work hard to keep the Service running smoothly, but we cannot guarantee perfection. The Service is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
  • The information or calculations will be perfectly accurate (always verify with your own records).
  • The Service will meet every user’s specific needs.

The Service is a budgeting tool — it is NOT a financial adviser, accountant, or tax preparer. Consult a qualified professional for specific financial advice.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or (b) fifty dollars ($50).

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or missed opportunities — even if we have been advised of the possibility.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Personal Solutions Northwest, LLC, its owner, employees, and affiliates from any claim arising out of your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

9. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Columbia County, Oregon, and both parties submit to their exclusive jurisdiction.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may terminate or suspend access if you violate these Terms, fail to pay, or for any lawful reason with reasonable notice. Upon termination, §6 (As-Is), §7 (Liability), §8 (Indemnification), and §10 (Governing Law) survive.

12. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Account Deletion policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
