Account Deletion

You can delete your account and erase your data from The Getting Ahead Guidebook at any time. This page explains exactly how it works.

Option 1 — Delete from Inside the App (Fastest)

  1. Sign in at app.thegettingaheadguidebook.com (or in our iOS/Android app).
  2. Open the drawer menu → Settings.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm your password.
  5. You’ll see a confirmation screen. Your account is immediately deactivated.

Option 2 — Email Request

If you can’t access the app for any reason, email us from the address on your account:

support@thegettingaheadguidebook.com

Subject line: Account Deletion Request

We will verify ownership and process the deletion within 5 business days.

What Happens After You Request Deletion

Day 0 — Immediate

  • Your account is deactivated and you are signed out.
  • You cannot sign in.
  • Your Stripe subscription is cancelled (no further charges).
  • You receive a confirmation email.

Days 1–30 — Grace Period

  • Your data is held in a restorable state.
  • If you change your mind, email us and we will restore your account at no cost.
  • After 30 days, restoration is no longer possible.

Day 31 — Permanent Deletion

  • All your personal data is permanently deleted from our production database.
  • Receipt images, budget data, transactions, and categories are erased.
  • Your email is removed from our mailing lists.
  • Automated backups containing your data expire within an additional 30 days.

What We Keep After Deletion

We retain minimal records required by law:

  • Stripe invoice records (kept by Stripe for 7 years per US tax law — we only retain the email address linked to those invoices, not your app data).
  • Aggregated, anonymized usage statistics that cannot be linked to you personally.

Changed Your Mind?

Within the 30-day grace period, email support@thegettingaheadguidebook.com and we’ll restore your account immediately with all data intact. After 30 days, deletion is permanent and cannot be undone — you would need to create a new account and start fresh.
